All students will need access to a Windows, Mac or Linux computer. iPads/Tablets/Chromebooks cannot be used for our classes.

Classes run for 60 mins and students code for one or two days per week.

Day 2: Pathway extension class

• This class is exclusive to students who are also registered for our Day 1 - Core Coding Class.

• Students will work with Python in Term 1 (Autumn) and Web Based Coding in Term 2 (Spring)

• We start with a Scratch to Python transition program called Pytch (a Trinity College Dublin project) and then move up to text-based programming using Pygame to create media projects like games.

• Python is one of the most popular and important programming languages in the world - Netflix, Instagram, Spotify, all use Python!

• Python is also the main programming language being used in Leaving Certificate Computer Science - a few years ahead of our young learners, but a great headstart!

• Mic and webcam (built-in computer mics/webcams are fine)

CLASS FORMAT:

• Classes use Zoom video calls for communication between students and tutors

• Small class sizes: approx. 6 students per class
